We've Got Him!

Its over, we have found him. Charles Fernandes is now behind bars. His exhausting tour of terror has met its end. For far too long, men, women, children, and even some animals have been tormented by his onslaught of shenanigans. Some apple carts may have been lost, but it was all worth it to bring this tyrant to justice.

It all started in the small town of Huatabampo where Carlos Fernandes (his given name) was kicked out of school for stealing all the valuable paper for the benefit of his own, using them to make counterfeit postage stamps in back of his fathers chicken coup. The young boy that was once bullied for owning only one shoe was now feared throughout the playground.

At a young age, he experienced his first taste of death as his pet prairie dog, Icy, was killed by an enraged eagle, the symbol of his nation he had grown to love. Feeling abandoned by his country and having no one to turn to, he blamed himself for the slaughter of his only friend. At only the age of 9, Carlos developed a destructive drinking habit of Coronas and tequila mixed with lime flavored Jarritos, a new Mexican soda pop at the time.

Wandering from town to town he found himself working as an grape farmer at Rancho Nido. It was there that he met his future partner in crime, Emilio Gonzales. The two scoundrels started stealing fruit from the farm they worked on and selling them back to the owner for twice the price. It wasn't long before the two of them became the richest men in northern Mexico. Nothing could come between the two of them, nothing until Maria.

Details about this senorita are scarce, but all that is known is both men would stop at nothing for her love. It is unknown who struck first; Fernandes or Gonzales, but what we know for certain is that it was Maria that triggered the duel. On a hot summers day on Bernfield street in Las Bocas, the two men agreed to take ten paces and then shoot. But Carlos could not wait that long. On the second step Fernandes stabbed Emilio in the back with the very knife he had given him for his 23rd birthday. Though Carlos had won the girl, his trophy did not last long as a renegade wagon full of crocodiles trampled her to death a moment later. Heartbroken, Fernandes fled the country with the money he acquired from his farm.

Now in his 30's, Fernandes quickly became the drug lord of Veracruz. Taking shipments of cocaine from Colombia and cutting it with 97% children's candy, Pixy Stix, he convinced his customers that it was a rare kind of drug grown in the far island of Palau. As more and more success came his way, Carlos began to feel adventurous and started dipping his toes in child labor to manufacture cheap knock-offs of American short-shorts and half-shirts that were popular at the time. Everything was running smoothly for the entrepreneur until his health took a turn for the worst.

Carlos Fernandes was hospitalized with a severe case of Paraganglioma after eating a bad batch of grapes. Ironic how the very fruit that started his success would be his downfall. He was admitted under the name Sergio Sanchez to avoid detection. While awaiting treatment at Puebla General Hospital, Carlos was found stealing fruit cups from other patients. When he had been caught, Fernandes decided to flea the premises. Upon exiting the hospital he tripped on a child's wooden duck toy and fell to the ground. Police apprehended the man and revealed his true identity, the most wanted illegal laborer/drug lord Mexico has every seen.

Carlos Fernandes is currently being held in a secret location where he will remain for the rest of his life. For his crimes against society, Carlos will be shot every two days in the armpit by a paintball gun and be submitted to weekly screenings of Battlefield Earth.

The streets of Mexico can rest easy now this man is behind bars. We can only hope that we do not encounter another such rabid beast of man that was, Charles Fernandes.
